The Holidays

Stress Free Cleaning Tips for the Holidays

Can you believe the holiday season is here?

I know it’s a cliché, but the holidays really are my favorite time of the entire year. There’s absolutely nothing better than getting together with the family, not to mention all of the fantastic food and dessert we get to enjoy.

The holidays are a great time to reflect on the year’s events and a chance to have a little bit of extra fun. Everything really does seem more magical during this time of the year with all the parties, office potlucks, Christmas carolers, and shopping for all your loved ones.

Unfortunately, the holidays require a lot out of us. We all stress about the little things like which store has your daughter’s favorite toy for the lowest price, or whose responsibility it is to cook the turkey this year.

Most of all we stress about the way our home looks. If we’re hosting holiday get-togethers, we all go above and beyond expectations trying to get everything to look perfect.

But stressing is the last thing I want you to do. So here are just a few holiday cleaning tips to keep yourself from becoming a Scrooge during this beautiful season.

Stress Free Cleaning Tips for the Holidays
1.
Write down all your events in a calendar. Include both the events that will be
hosted at your home and the events you will be attending. If you know exactly
when you need to clean, you’ll have plenty of time to prepare.

2. Take a small inventory of what cleaning supplies you have in your home and
purchase anything that you don’t have on our basic cleaning supplies list.

3. De-clutter your home before you begin doing any heavy duty cleaning. Get all
of the stuffed animals, coffee cups, hats,  and magazines out of the way. If you
can’t find a place to put something away, create a holiday storage area in a
spare closet that can be used until the holidays are over.

4. If you’re in a time crunch, don’t focus on cleaning the whole house. Just
concentrate on the main areas of your home at first, starting with the kitchen
and eventually working your way into the bedrooms.

5. Make it fun. I know it sounds crazy that cleaning could be fun, but just trust
me. Turn it to your favorite Christmas station and get the whole family
involved. It’s important to spend time together in any way you can.

I hope these stress free cleaning tips can help you during this busy time of the year. Although we can do a lot to improve the beauty of our homes, sometimes it’s also important to just take a step back and let others do the work for you.
